American Cockroaches

What do American cockroaches look like?

American cockroaches are large, growing up to 2 1/8 inches long. They have shiny, mahogany-colored bodies with wings stacked on their backs. A distinct yellow band with two dark spots can be seen just behind their heads. They have six spiny legs, two long antennae, and two cerci (small appendages) at the rear. Nymphs, or young American cockroaches, are wingless but share the same oval shape and mahogany color as adults.

Since it takes six months to one year for a nymph to reach adulthood, populations can grow exponentially.
